I regularly fly in and out of LGB and tie down at Airflite. If you buy gas there, which is expensive, they wave the $20 tie down fee. There are one or two other FBO's on the airport if you want to check them out too. There is an occassional marine layer but recently the weather has been great. It's also easy to get a rental car various companies in the main terminal.
