Yesterday was the first day I taxi'd the Lancair under it's own power. A big milestone!!! Everything checked out perfectly and the engine ran like a kitten. I taxi'd in a large oval for about 5 mintues. I noticed no weird sounds, or vibrations, or anything strange, except I did notice that since this was a very slow taxi test and I'm told not to put any side load on this landing gear, I slowed way down for the turns, and I did notice that it felt weird to get the airplane in a turn and then find out I put too much brake and try to get it to turn the other way - so basically, I was doing a lot of S turns down the taxiway. I got better. I didn't taxi fast but did notice if I taxi'd a little faster than a baby's crawl, it was much easier to steer in a straight line. Could be one of those - getting use to steering with brakes instead of the Cessna nosewheel
steering. Matt
