The Specific Heat Capacity - cp - (Btu/lb.oF) of oil is around .5 which makes it a poor heat transfer medium, as opposed to water at 1, or in the case of an engine a Glycol/water mix of 40% would be around .8
Also it is thick, so it won't circulate well in a jacket situation.
