Gary,
  just shy of 800 hours on the bracket,  the hinge play , just in the last  10 or so hours sort of a gradual wear in the hinge.. I think the loose hinge compounded the bracket problem, and since the 1/8" thick bracket has a very limited number of flexures to deformation (and it was deformed) then breaking, I thought it best to do the alert..
