His logic was that more often than not he would be going down in a remote area due to engine failure and would activate his EPIRB before landing/crashing. He felt a controlled flight into terrain accident would likely be fatal. He felt the "impact" feature was far less important than the "where he was" feature. He keeps his EPIRB on the seat next to him. Makes sense to me. Mike Easley
