The price depends on the system you get (quality and features - like
everything else), but different companies range from $10k up to $80k.
Foresight sells their basic system - ready to install - for $11.9k (for
experimentals, certified is more expensive).Custom mounting pods made
specifically for your aircraft are another $1k. If a group (of five)
were to order together, the price drops to under $10k - and if the
mounts are all the same, the customs will be included.
The images are pretty amazing... this camera can see footprints of dogs
left behind on wooden floors; distinguish small animals on runways up to
half a mile away! That is with no light... though fog and smoke will
hinder the image some, the vision penetration is still amazing. For all
the gadgets and gizmos we put on our planes, this is the "bacon saver" I
would recommend next to an AOA.

 Steve,
You're better off getting a FLIR camera, such as what is available at
www.foresight-flir.com ; it lets you see at night, through smoke and
fog, and still lets you see all your instruments properly (even has its
own battery backup in case you lose all power). If you want the ultimate
in night time safety features, this is it. Though this is the one we are
working with, there are others as well.
