Everyone does things differently and in a different order.
I took the HPAT ground class and did not walk out with a check list for my plane.
I did some flight training in the Lancair's 199L and found the check list had a lot of room for improvement for my taste.
I plan to do the flight training portion in my plane with Pete once it is done.
From my point of view, we are building experimental planes, customized within a narrow band to our individual ideas of what will be best for our style.
The layout of the Panel and the Grip buttons are determined by what one uses on a regular basis and ease of use.
Lancair's checklist template, and the flight training I did in a Legacy and the LML, all have helped me greatly in laying out my panel.
I take all relevant information into account, LML, Joe, B, Pete and so on.

Kevin, I see in the past you have looked to the LML for some answers and consensus on a few items?
I think you are underestimating the knowledge and the decades of experience of the many people that read and post to the LML.

That's why you go get HPAT training and get it from Pete and his band of
merry men. That's the direction you take. The LML isn't necessarily
the best place to get knowledge. Collaborating with someone who has
built their airplane differently than someone else and who has different
abilities and may or may not have done things correctly, isn't the most
inspiring source.
Don't post it, go get the training and collaborate with the best of the
best. They have worked hard to put this program together and have
worked hard to put a checklist and assemble information that is far
better than what you could find here (in my opinion).
You get what you pay for....
