This is a repost since part of the post got chopped.
Tony Durizzi's IVP was built earlier and had the same ice light
as this. There was a piece of plexiglass bonded over the top to
protect it. It worked well, but I think the surface began to crack
around it if memory serves. Could have been due to flexure.

The subsequent owner of the aircraft had the lights removed during a
repaint of the entire airframe (I worked on the re-paint). The lights
were not in very good condition. There were cracks and the plexiglass
type lenses were scratched and foggy looking. Gary
