I agree with most of your comments, but I was really surprised how little force it takes to bring an AN3 bolt to the proper torque.  I checked a few of the bolts that hold the elevator hinges to the horiz stab and found my "feel" method was beyond what the torque wrench said I needed.  I now have a new "feel" for AN3 bolts and nuts.
