Hello,
I just received a call from the technician doing the electrical connections
for my new S-Tec System 30 autopilot and was informed that I cannot hook up
the GPSMAP195 to the AP as a NAV source directly. He said that I needed to
purchase some sort of interface. Since I've been grounded for over a month
now, I told him to proceed with the project without the 195. Originally, I
wanted to install a switch to select between my Garmin 250XL and the
GPSMAP195, then a separate switch to select between VOR and GPS. I wanted to
be able to use the 195 since I can download my flight plan directly into the
unit. I don't know if I can do the same for the 250XL (manual is missing
from the box!). Anyone have any experience with this? I really need to buy
a separate interface? Thanks in advance.
I actually accomplished quite a bit during the past month from items on my
TO-DO list. Here's a quick update: a) completed SB050-0999, b) installed
new emergency gear dump valve, c) installed a speed controller for the pitch
servos, hopefully to reduce the over sensitivity of the pitch trim, d)
installed the S-Tec roll & pitch Servos, e) fixed pitot tube which I
accidentally broke with my back while crawling backwards!, f) hot wired the
GPSMAP 195 and a bunch of other minor stuff.
I hope to be back in the air this weekend and test the autopilot and the
speed controller. Should be interesting...
