Shudda gone down when the buzzard went up

Bill & Sue,

Good job handling the bird strike.  There must be one family of buzzards that didn't read the manual. Had a similar event on a >200 AGL low level run in N.C.   Took him/her (not sure which) down the #1 intake and pumped cooked hash out the back.

Write up: Bird strike- talon stuck on #1 intake LE. Slime down intake.  RTB

To address your question how to begin: Go to Aircrafters LLC dot com for how-to-do pictures on a glider wing.  I IRC they also did a similar repair on a LNC2 wing a few years ago.  You could consult with them on a repair procedure and run it by Lancair for a second confirmation.  From the pictures the spar looks intact and the repair very feasible.  Maybe install a D section rib in the damaged area for additional support.

Have a beer and call in the morning.
