One of the last emergency checklist items is to dump the door air seal air. Although not taught would it be an emergency checklist item to unlatch the door? I have had a door not be closed properly on takeoff. The only indication was a louder than normal air in the cockpit noise. Isn't there a safety catch mechanism integrated in the latching system? I can't remember. It may be possible to have the door unlatched and the door not fly open in flight.
