<< Lancair Builders' Mail List >>

I am building a IVP with all the fast build options and received my kit in
March of this year. I can believe your friend has seen some fit problems as
I have too. The factory has been open and helpful on any issues I have
called about. I have talked to other brand "x " kit builders and from
those discussions determined BEFORE my purchase that the Lancair gave you
the best bang for your buck. I have worked with a builder out of Denver
several times and, aside from some natural frustrations with a project of
this magnitude, he felt the quality of the Lancair was above anything
available also. His frame of reference is more real as this is his second
build project and first Lancair. One thing that must be realized with
homebuilt aircraft is that YOU are considered the builder. If you are not
willing or desire to live through some of the frustrations and dedicate the
time necessary to complete a project of this size then reconsider whether
this is for you. I have been called by others considering building and have
found some just wanting the end result product and not real excited about
the actual build process. My advise was to plop his cash down on a
Columbia, Mooney, or a Malibu. The build process should be an exciting
aspect to you, even the possibility of problems encountered and eventual
satisfying solutions. If this building and potential problem
solving process gives you great concern you will be very sorry about the
purchase of ANY kit built aircraft. If you believe you can stick with a
project like this and desire not only the aircraft to fly, but also the
reward and pride of your work and craftsmanship sitting on the ramp for all
to goo at, then the Lancair will positively give you the most bang for your
buck.
