So, Barry, what is your comment about the stability and controllability at stall-region AOAs, of the early Lancairs? Make Experimentals aerodynamically safer!
I don't think anyone would disagree that safer designs are better, but C172's kill 'em just as dead as Lancairs. My comment about early Lancairs is I have no experience flying them, but as with many early designs there are improvements that can be made. The Legacy is, I understand, a vast improvement over the 320/360....BUT it is still not a design that is ultra stable in the stall region. My experience is that the vast majority of GA pilots (and I'm a GA guy) are under trained and over confident.
Safer airplanes are great, but safer attitudes and commitment to training would go a lot farther in reducing accident rates...just my opinion.
