I fly an early all glass skin LNC2 and all my antennas are inside. I have never had a problem talking to or being seen on radar by ATC unless I was at extreme range (compared to the many spam cans I have flown in the past). My transponder spike is in a wing-tip, mounted to the upper skin and have never had a problem being seen unless I was low, behind a mountain range relative to the transmitter. I have two comm antennas, one in the vertical stab (comm 2) and a Bob Archer pasted to the inner wall of the fuse behind the rear bulkhead (wrapped around the inside from top to bottom) and the only issue there is if I'm out maybe 20 miles and pointed deirctly at the ground antenna, tower personnel tell me that I'm hard to read. A 45 degree turn either way and the problem goes away. Closer in, say within 8 - 10 miles, my orientation is not a factor. The only real problem, IMHO, is finding the real-estate for all the antennas in our small Lancairs (LNC2's that is) and planning a way in for maintenance should it ever become necessary. My VOR ant. is in the horiz. stab., Marker beacon along the floor of the fuse, Glide slope in one outer wing panel, and comms and transponder as noted above. Good luck, Dan Schaefer N235SP
