On my IV-P I found
the Lancair hydraulic tank's pump mounting flange to be out of round to the
point the pump would not fit into the tank's flange. This prevented the
o-ring from sealing the tank to the pump. I was also concerned with having
the pump mounting stud penetrating the bottom of the tank due to potential
leaking of the hydraulic fluid. For these reasons I made a new mounting
flange using the pump's existing flange for attachment and welded the hole shut
in the bottom of the tank. I clear anodized the tank. One other
point to make...I was not thrilled to find the inside of the tank was
"painted". Pictures of tank mod attached.
