G’day Duane,
Howdy Paul,
I am afraid you are both missing my point.
I shall try to express it in such a way
that my friend Grayhawk (see – I even use your American spelling to
conform) might be suitably impressed – eschewing obfuscation,
notwithstanding.
You can calibrate your ASI, or buy your car
speedo calibrated in fingers and toes if you like. But the fact is, you are no
longer operating in an American vacuum.
Numerous ( that is, many) posts are viewed
across the world by pilots – owners builders etc, who live outside the
shores of your great land, and who conform to the convention of KNOTS in terms
of aeronautical speed measurement.
And many ( that is, numerous) posts are proposing
certain performance parameters, or formula etc, and I’ll bet my brass
b****s that most American Lancair
drivers watch their ASI’s calibrated in the global convention of aeronaut-iggle
speed measurement of – KNOTS.
So when someone from the from the great
land of the bald eagle posts performance numbers in terms of MPH, or FINGERS
and/or TOES, it is meaningless because, as I have already explained, had
explained by one of your countrymen for whom I have great regard, that such
terminology may not appear to be what it actually states. AND as I have tried
to get across in previous posts in this matter – when you refer to
performance numbers such as stall speeds, well, it is important we all know
what is meant.
To explain further, in this country, lots
of car drivers –usually brash youth, like to brag about how many “KNOTS”
they have achieved in their hot rod, when in fact they are reading their speedo
in KPH, and before we had KPH, in MPH.
Yeah Yeah Yeah ! I know lots will think it
is trivial.
But – you can choose to join the real
world, or………………
Best regards
Dom
