I switched to taking cabin heat off the oil cooler after some measurements showed insufficient heat was available for the carburetor when taking fresh air through the heat muff. I now take contaminated, but preheated air, through the heat muff. The carburetor is happy but the occupants suffer occasionally during the winter months. Cabin heat is quite powerful in the middle of the summer. During the winter, the heat coming off the cooler is so little that the windchill factor negates any benefit inside the cabin. Outside temps down to 32 degF are still comfortable. When the OAT drops to around zero and you are not facing the sun it is chilly inside.
