Per Ian Crowe's post asking for the pitot pressure vs IAS:
If memory serves me right, this data, in the form of a chart for a range of
commonly attained airspeeds, was published in the EAA magazine a couple of
years ago with just the purpose you had in mind.
I don't know if the EAA can search their archives for the relevant article
but it might be worth a try.
Incidentally, I sure would like to have the Manufacturer and part number of
that switch. I've been wanting to do the same thing, remembering the old
saw: " There are just two kinds of pilots - those who have landed gear up -
and those who will".
Keeping that in mind sorta keeps me on my toes but a good, loud reminder
wouldn't hurt.
Incidentally, if the data isn't forthcoming, you could always slow to
whatever speed you want the horn to blow, keep the gear up, and set the
"calibratable" switch to just start the appropriate ruckus. Might need a
"Test Temporary" long set of wires and wouldn't hurt to have someone else
with you to help with the flying or calibrating duties. This way, regardless
of what the pitot pressure pretends to be, you'll know the warning is set
just right for your airplane.
Cheers,
Dan Schaefer
