       We just put a CJ into service. The Collins systems IFIS and FMS system on the CJ3 automatically put the transponder(s) into standby mode on the ground as well.  It only squawks the mode S portion of the reply, which is just serial number of the airplane. There is physically no way to do anything about it not even at an ASDE equipped airport.   Fun airplane, but I'm still looking forward to the day I can get a Lancair.

Hey, I like that.  I have got to check my transponder wiring diagram to see if it can be activated that way.  Since I fly out of the ORD Mode C veil, I am more concerned about forgetting to turn the dang thing on.  Most departures are VFR with a high climb rate.  I think wee curvy glass Lancairs don't provide much of a primary return.
