Leaving the "dang thing on" if you are not sure is over-doing it, as far and away, most people are not at an ASDE equipped airport. It's pretty easy to forget to turn it to standby sometimes I know, but its also irresponsible to be constantly crying wolf for no reason. Nathan Kanagy
