I certainly understand your concern! On the 360 MkII it is necessary to cut almost half way into the T.E. shear web. According to the manual this is normal and ok.>>
My email seems to be dropping random postings, so I can't follow this thread in its entirety. At the risk of being a little off-topic, let me offer up the following option.
Attached is a photo of an alternate method of connecting the control horn to the servo. Originally this was two L-shaped pieces of sheet metal. Later on, I machined a one piece unit. By going 'around' the skin, the shear web and the skin forward of the shear web stay intact. Even though the manual says it is ok to cut this area, I didn't like the idea.
