Per Angier's comment about using flex hydro hoses instead of Al hard lines:

Properly installed and protected aluminum (or any hard lines) should not
need replacement - ever! On the other hand, if you don't protect them
against deterioration due to vibration and corrosion, all bets are off.

Installed correctly though, they should last virtually forever. I've flown
quite a lot in a friend's 1955 C-180 and most of the hard lines in it are
original and doing just fine, thank you!

Aluminum is light, strong, ductile and easy to form, and should last the
life of your Lancair. A good wipe-down with LPS-3 (I think it is, the
greaseless lube, anyway) will provide lasting protection against corrosion
and proper placement of Adels or equivalent, will control vibration
problems.

I think we experimental builders have to guard against over-kill, it almost
always adds unnecessary weight.
