John,
That sounds like a very good plan to me. This is probably the approach that
I would take if I had a plane with carbon fiber skin.
Copper screen is light. It can be easily bonded to the skin and covered
with on layer of fiberglass then faired in to conform to the original
contour. It has several advantages over conductive paint, among which are,
1) It is a better conductor 2) You don't have to worry about degradation
with age 3) Contact with the outer conductor of your coaxial cable is firm
and more reliable.
