These two message fragments are from a friend of mine that has the GRT EFIS
in his RV8. Scary stuff! Glad he was VFR when it happened.
I do, sincerely, hope that these EFIS guys work out the kinks in their
systems. I think competition is good in this space... Not to be a
commercial endorsement, but I do think that the money and time that Chelton
paid to test and certify their system has dramatically helped the "sport"
and "pro" versions that we in the experimental market use. Now if the other
guys would just get to a stable feature set and spend some time (and money)
testing, instead of playing rev of the week....
Message 1 from yesterday
uploaded v28, installed terrain on flash. While shooting an ils approach
into
28r kcmh, screen went nuts with what appeared to be 50 vors tracking on my
screen. All moving around completely covering the screen. rendered the
screen
unusuable. I have not seen this before and suspect the v28 but I can't be
sure.
Thank goodness I was vfr. I would have taken a picture but I was on the wing
of
another plane doing a section landing.
be careful out there.
Message 2 from today
also noticed these multiple alarms on approach. Obstacles, terrain warning.
Very
annoying while driving down an ils. Just ran that exact approach tonight and
it
went fine except for all the alarms. Those should be suppressed if your
driving
down the approach.
