Motion Computing makes two tablet computers running Windows XP Tablet. One is the LS800 and the other is the LS1600. Check it out at www.motioncomputing.com
I have the 1400 and like it a lot. However, the smaller 800 may be better for putting into a panel. I plan to mount the tablet on a pedestal on the floor so that I can get to it easier and not have it on my lap. There are several companies who make the pedestals and mounts. If you look in the AOPA magazine, there are several companies that bundle a nav/flight planning program, weather worx, blue tooth gps, etc. with either the 1600 or the 800. Chartcase makes a very good package with reasonable, annual subscription rates. Of course, Jepp has a great package but with fairly high subscription rates. I'm using Destination Direct and may change when the subscription ends. On my package, the approach charts are displayed using Adobe Acrobat and they are really nice. On the tablets, you can rotate the screen 90 degrees every time you tap a button and that makes the charts display in portrait mode. The MC tablets come with bluetooth wireless and regular wireless cards installed. The GPS can run three separate pieces of software and transmits the data to the tablet via bluetooth radio.
I prefer to have the tablet easily removeable to take to the house for updates and hotels for flight planning and weather. Most places have wireless lans so it is easy to get weather and stuff off the internet.
Hope this helps,
John
