Hello Everyone!
It has taken a tremendous amount of time, effort and resources to bring about a new energy absorbing seat which we originally introduced at Oshkosh. That particular seat was an engineering example of what would become our "Lancair Seat, Revision "B." It is this new seat which features a very high strength stainless steel pan, which we are now ready to deliver. Several changes are now incorporated in the seat which I believe makes it much more user friendly, including a latch releasing mechanism which activates from the front of the seat. While we have not tested this seat in a rocket sled as we did the engineering example, we feel sure that it will meet or exceed the strength of the original model at a slightly lesser weight. Our engineering department should be commended for their tireless work to make this the best seat available for your Lancair IV's. While I had the best of intentions to deliver the seats immediately after Oshkosh, certain events beyond our control prevented immediate delivery of these seats.
Some of you have indicated a concern as to why the seat can not be mounted directly to the seat supports you originally built into your aircraft. Suffice it to say that for the seat to work as designed, the additional support width was considered necessary. We are supplying templates with each seat which should make installation very simple once you have modified the rear supports coming off of the main spar box.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at any time to discuss this wonderful new seat system. (541-350-2901)
To all of our wonderful customers (and prospective customers) we wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year!
