Did you guys land on dirt strips?

Hi Rob,

We land on dirt, grass and even coral strips regularly. A few of them have been quite rough. We've had absoutely no problems. I give a lot of credit for this to the Ong's Debongers. I doubt that we'd try some of the strips that we've been into without them.

We do use standard soft field technique on T.O. and lndg. In addition, we'll usually land and takeoff on rough strips with no more than 1/2 full header tank to allow us to hold the nosewheel off longer on landing or get it off at a slower speed on T.O.

All in all, the Lancairs have a fairly robust gear. With proper technique all models should be able to handle smooth grass at the very least.
