A metal prop makes a better flywheel, hence smoother idle. A wood-core prop absorbs more vibration, therefore smoother at high power settings. My 2c: I've flown MT props on aerobatic planes (translation: harsh environment) for about 7 years now with excellent results. Good bang for the buck, good reliability, and light weight. And they'll work with you to pick the right hub / blade combo. If you can afford more than a standard metal Hartzell prop, then MT is a good choice IMHO.
