 Craig,
 I think I would block prime, which is to spray maybe 4 coats of primer
waiting 15 or 20 min. between coats. Then sand with 320 using a small square
block after all coats are on. You may have to spray a few more coats after
this if the weave is not filled. Hope this helps.
