FYI - The factory ES 407L has the bearings in it also.
The modification and installation was simple. I had a local machine shop
enlarge the holes in my control sticks to match the size of the bearings -
less .005. Then simply pressed in the custom spacer, one bearing (to get the
spacer to go to the center), and then the other bearing on the other side.
I am sure you can buy these bearings at a local bearing supply. The custom
spacer is the tricky part. It was machined by Lancair with a lip to allow the
bearings to be squeezed together and ride on the center race - not the outer
sleeve. A set of washers instead of the spacer could also work. The bolt
that goes through the center will hold the washers in place.
Mike - post a pic of the bearings and the spacer - and also post the bearing
part number.
