The modification and installation was simple. I had a local machine shop enlarge the holes in my control sticks to match the size of the bearings - less .005. Then simply pressed in the custom spacer, one bearing (to get the spacer to go to the center), and then the other bearing on the other side. I am sure you can buy these bearings at a local bearing supply. The custom spacer is the tricky part. It was machined by Lancair with a lip to allow the bearings to be squeezed together and ride on the center race - not the outer sleeve. A set of washers instead of the spacer could also work.
