While Drew and I were in Redmond, Tim showed us the bearings and the small
aluminum spacer that goes in between the bearings. He pulled the parts
from inventory and we got a bill in the mail. Tim told us we'd have to do
a little machining on our sticks, that any decent machine shop would know how to
machine for the bearings.
Drew's already installed them, not sure what was involved at the machine
shop. The bearings look like the ones my kids use in their
skateboards. I think one of the engineers referred to them at ABEC
5. Mine are still in the bags and I think there's a part number on
them. The only custom part is the spacer.
Maybe Drew could post his experience on having his stick drilled out to
accommodate the bearings.
It sounds like Drew and I got some special deal that they aren't planning
on offering to everybody. I'm not sure what the big deal is with doing the
modification ourselves.
