Scott Dalgren,
Back on 4/23/99 you wrote about a dump valve from McMaster Carr. The text of
your message is below. Did you ever install this valve and if so what have been
your experiences? Did it stop the leakage from the high side to the low? I'm
real curious if anyone has actually solved the problem. There was another valve
someone mentioned from Whitey, SS-42F-2-A and then ,also, Lancair has a
replacement valve. Does anyone have any real experience with any of these
valves?

on the subject of the hydraulic ball (dump) valve:
I found a replacement dump valve in caster Carr (#49355K91) that had 1/4"
npt and was rated for 2000 psi for $18.64 , or a stainless with full ports
for $26.25 (49355k21). they both look like the original.
It seems like there have been several parts in the hydraulic system that
have failed beyond just the dump valve. Perhaps we could make a list of
these and the recommended upgrades. I would be glad to compile a drawing
showing these if members with flying aircraft could submit them. this would
help us "ground" (grinding?) flyers.
thanks,
Scott

[The SS-42F2-A Whitey valve you mentioned was presented by Scott, and is
pictured on the LML homepage, dated 7/19/99. I'm using a Whitey valve
as well, but mine has 1/4"npt ports and flows straight through. I'll
check on its number when I get back to the shop and upload a photo
as well as soon as that roll of film is completed. <Marv> ]
