I am not completely sure I will install EI, but thinking about it. I agree that a dual set up (performance wise) would be the best way to go...but I was looking at the reliability factor of leaving one mag, while achieving some benefit from the variable timing of the EI and providing a longer/stronger spark for cold and hot starting. Definition time: What is WOT? To make a long story short.....bought the plane early this year, it ran a bit rough at idle but not severe. It got worse in Aug, to the point of stumbling and coughing, so I had a mech come look at it. It was discovered while hand propping (engine warm) that it was extremely hard to pull through. Suspected a the front bearing. Tore the engine down and found that when LYC put the engine halves together that sealant was dripped behind the sleeve of the front crank shaft bearing causing it to wear on the crank shaft once it heated up. Don't necessarily think that is related to the rough idle...but will be able to check all's suggestions once engine is back together. Intend to completely go through the intake system, injection system (including vent) and spark plugs. Already had the fuel servo flow tested (tested sat!!). Thanks again. FLY NAVY....and of course LANCAIR!! Scott
