Any particular reason you choose LSE over the
P-mag? My main concern with
the P-mag is the heat that the software
would be subjected to! Also, I
believe you used the dual LSE set
up! I was looking at just replacing one
side with LSE or Electroair
set up, that is until I read about the P-mags!
All:
Thank you for your replies. I am currently investigating the
reasons
for my IO-360B1B rough idle and hard starting. Electronic
ignition is but one
of the remedies I am looking
at.
Scott,
1. P-Mag had no history, no experience and users that they could reference
(except for one aerobatic guy that had experience with one E-Mag). There
was no hi compression experience.
2. They are big and I have no room.
3. There is no timing data (like the LASAR). BUT, I do like the
configuration switches on the units.
4. Regardless of how irritating Klaus is, the LSE system is proven although
not simple. Klaus races!
5. If I want, I could adjust the timing of the LSE system.
The heat should not affect ROMs. However, you are correct to be
concerned. E-Mags have been around a while yet there is not enough info
about them. Arnie has had no problem with the P-Mags so far on his Lancair
360.
I am not impressed by "moderates" or one sided electronic ignitions.
While they are better than two mags (EIs, not moderates), I will never be
convinced that flame fronts started at totally different times is an effective
ignition system.
If you have reached a point where the mags need to be overhauled, you
should seriously look at the P-Mags - especially if you just want to fly rather
than screw around like I do.
Now, to your problem.
EIs won't fix poorly running engines but can be a good replacement for bad
mags. Are you sure the idle mixture is proper? Are your mags/points
worn out? Ignition leads in good shape? Plugs properly gapped and
clean? All plugs good? .......
