Electronic Ignition

I have read several accounts of people
using the LSE electronic ignition. Any further updates on how it is
going? Has anyone installed or know anything about E-mags? Looks
like a compact design.
Michael,
I have absolutely no first hand
experience with LSE. but I will say two things:
1) I wouldn't do business with
Klaus (with whom I have had first hand experience).
2) If you set your timing to
optimize for LOP operations and you run LOP, I don't see technically any reason
you are going to see fuel savings. You can spark as hot as you want but
the flame front speed is going to be mostly a function of mixture. If
you run ROP, okay there's fuel savings but at unknown peak pressure.
Klaus wouldn't say enough to convince me that he stays out of the red
box. I figure I have a right to know....
If I were racing
airplanes I might push it that extra little bit. more often I'm
racing my airplane to the bank to see who will get the money first. In
that race I think I'm better off with the old mags for now. I'll put
PRISM in if it ever gets to market because it provides closed loop control on
engine damaging events by measuring peak pressure in every cylinder many times
per cycle. Hopefully my mags will last a couple hundred hours and
that will be good enough.
