The files on your CD-ROM that end in .p65 are Pagemaker Version 6.5 = files.   You need the Pagemaker program to read them, although = there=20 may be other applications that can also read them.
 
The files ending in .log are log files that could have been created = by any=20 number of applications.  Try opening one of them with your favorite = text=20 editor and see if you can find any clues within the plain text that = might be in=20 the file. 
 
I'd ignore the thumbs.db files which contain information about = graphics=20 files on the disk that isn't relevant to your needs.
