Yes Mark...you are incorrect.  You see, you don't have to have insurance through AIG...Go get insurance anywhere else that you can.  Perhaps other companies will agree with your philosophy and provide coverage with a minimum amount of training and without looking at what significant modifications you may have introduced into your Lancair Kit.  That company will either enjoy or suffer the consequences of its decision.

As far as what was available when you purchased your kit...let me tell you that insurance was very difficult to get and probably much more expensive than it is now.  So while nothing stays the same, I must say that in this case, affordable insurance through AIG is available now...it wasn't when you bought your kit.

I should further point out that Robertson Helicopter has a similar insurance program which has helped their customers obtain coverage.
