Yes the C-177 is a beautiful and utilitarian plane. If my GlaStar were to grow up it would aspire to become one! As for forsaking the ES - no need to jump ship just yet. Two and a half years of "effort" have not yet yielded an insurance policy with premiums that should ground you. There is still much to be clarified. However I do not believe that you'll get the great rates that you would for a standard certificated plane. If you need rates in the $1k to $2k range, I do not think that's gonna happen. Robert M.
