Because it is not very sexy.

Not that Dan copied the idea from there, but that is how the flap and
elevator trim indicators work on older Mooney's (and maybe even newer
ones).

I usually set the elevator trim on my Mooney before engine start (or
even master on) -- can't do that with any other kind of an indicator.
