Curtis Krouse asked about the outback gear pictured on the front of the
Lancair catalog. That is Orin's airplane. I noticed it at Oshkosh two
years ago when he had just completed his Turbo. He said he reversed the
installation in order to take advantage of the gear leg being able to go
higher into the wheel well (and therefore improving wheel clearance) than
if it had been done the other way. I've done mine the same as Orin. Seems
to fit fine.
If I recall correctly the only reason they were done the original way
was that was the way they were done on the standard gear and the reason the
standard gear did it that way was to accommodate the three piece gear door,
which you don't have on the outback set up.
