You'll have enough leverage to do it by hand. Note: the attach point of the gas strut to the links and the other hardware in this general area is prone to mis-assembly. Make darned sure to cycle the gear by hand prior to doing so with the hydraulics so that you can catch an interference. Otherwise something will get torn apart.
