Dear LML Contributors, Lurkers and Friends,
Jim White's Lancair IV-P, N427RJ, made it's first flight on Saturday, 6
August, with Charlie Kohler at the controls. Charlie reported that with the
exception of one popped circuit breaker, the 15 minute flight over the
Manassas Airport was flawless. With the exception of the exterior paint
(Brad Simmons) and assistance with the Blue Mountain EFIS One panel and
final wiring, this is an owner-built airplane.
The aircraft was painted before final assembly, and was then assembled and
tested in the EAA Chapter 186 hangar at the Manassas Airport. Although the
process may have been delayed a bit to walk Chapter members and visitors
around the project during final assembly, it also makes it impossible to
thank, or even identify--for that matter--all of the caring people who
contributed a hand or idea to this project.
With this flight (pictures attached), Jim moves to the flying and tinkering
phase of Lancair ownership, having just about expended his quotient of
interest in building over the past six years.
