Subject: LED nav lights

Greetings Listers,

Has anyone used LED nav lights in their Lancair? In theory, they have a lot of advantages over incandescent bulbs. The advantages include; lower power consumption (about 1/3), 20,000 hr+ bulb life (as opposed to about 100 hrs with incandescent), brighter, less heat, cheaper to buy, more pure color, and lighter (22 gauge wire vs. 18 gauge).

The questions I have about them include; will they fit in our slim wingtips? Any interference with magnetometers in the wingtips? Any radio interference?

Here are two sites that I've found for LED nav lights. Any comments on either of these companies? Any other products that I should be looking at for lighting?

Thanks much for any info. I can't imagine building or flying without the help and advise of you guys. This list is the single best resourse available to Lancair builders. Thanks Rob, thanks Marv.
