Regarding your questions, there shouldn't be
interference issues if they're just wired up with
resistors and LEDs. I think the two you listed use
voltage regulator ICs, and I'm not sure if they would
cause any problems. My guess is no, but I'm not an
EE.
I've been working on my own design for my Legacy, but
my job has pulled me away from home and the project
for the moment. My design incorporates many VRs and
resistors for redundancy, and the number of LEDs was
chosen so that certain ones could die and it would
still meet the spec (as long as the LEDs I bought meet
the spec listed by the manufacturer--I'll test it when
I'm done). I'm still in the breadboard stage. My
reason for choosing LEDs was primarily to accomodate
my aesthetic intent. I also hope to install
landing/recognition lights in the wingtips.
I'll let you know when I get further and learn more.
