1)   I have the Tru Trak A/P.  This is perhaps the biggest love/hate
relationship I have.  In smooth air, it is a dream.  In  turbulence,
even light chop, it is a nightmare as it correct for every  minor
deviation and does it's best to make me sea sick...what's worse it
won't hold altitude.  Does the AP possibly have an internal leak of
some sort?  The altitude needs constant resetting, as  well....

I second Jeff's advice: call Jim Younkin. HOwever, in the installation manual of our Tru Trak DFC 250, there is a caution about letting the static input to the Tru Trak be shared with other devices requiring static pressure inputs. The real problem is if one of those devices or a combination of devices combine to provide a plenum effect (my terminology). This does not allow the A/P to respond correctly to the changes in static pressure. This is my summarization of that caution and it could be the sole or part of the cause of your problems. Check for leaks in the static system & pitot system. If there is a leak in the system, it would mor likely be there and not in the A/P itself.

Hope this helps.

John

PS: We ran a separate static source for the A/P. We believe that this A/P is so good that it can be an emergency ADI - something we intend to test when we get flying. Any comments on this from the group?
