The autopilot is programmable, and he can tell you how to fix it. Properly set up, the TruTracks fly better in turbulence than any other autopilot. The IO-550 has a bad reputation for hot starting. There is a system of running the boost pump for a minute or something that I will let someone who uses it describe. I have a 550 in my C-185 that I have owned for 5 years. Even though it is not as tightly cowled as a Lancair, the system I use gets me a quick start every time regardless of heat soak time...10 minutes to an hour. Full rich, 1/2 to 5/8 throttle. Mags on. Start cranking, and after 2 or 3 revolutions, turn on the boost pump. Then engine will catch, so then let off the boost pump, and manipulate the throttle. If it starts to die, open the throttle. If rpm get too high, reduce throttle, until it settles down in about 5 seconds. A little practice will make it an easy, no stress deal. All you need is 3 hands :o) John Barry Hancock wrote: > 1) I have the Tru Trak A/P. This is perhaps the biggest love/hate > relationship I have. In smooth air, it is a dream.
