Matt -
My 1400 does get warm on the lower right corner (the long edge with all the jacks & things is toward me. So far, I have not had any problems with it going blank. I have lots of pictures on it and take it to the hot (North Carloina) hangar to look at when necessary. It goes into the slumber mode after a certain amount of time and you have to hit the on button to bring it back up.
I have had it flying a couple of times in friend's airplanes, but have not had any problem there with the heat and blank screen. The only times I've had to reboot is to get the GPS or WxWorx to connect again. There are interface problems, IMHO, bewteen Windows XP, the blue tooth receiver in the tablet and the GPS and WxWorx transmitters.
I had to send my WxWorx receiver (blue tooth option) back for repairs/replacement. It got to the point where it would not connect to the tablet. That may have been the problem in flight. Recently, I had a problem with the GPS not being available to Destination Direct. This was a problem with not having the right serial port identified in the software. When the GPS is on, it relly is nice to have the 3 channels. I've had WxWorx , Destination Direct and MS Streets & Trips all linked to GPS and showing position. Kinda interesting to zoom and tell someone you are flying over the corner of First and Main in xxx, NC :-))
What were your problems wi/ WxWorx?
Cheers,
John
Has anyone had problems with the LE1400 and heat?
