I went here: http://www.basinc-aeromod.com/ and
found some pretty convincing evidence that the conventional 3-point diagonal
seat-belt is not what you want if you're in a serious but survivable accident
(see pictures and descriptions - pretty amazing what can be
survivable).
I checked into amsafe inflatable
restraints. Lancair says they'll have them shortly after
Oshkosh. but the price is somewhere around $2000 a seat.
....so that would be $8000. Also, a possible
issue with these is that it takes "< 10 secs" according to Amsafe for the bag
to deflate. I figure in a IV-P somewhere in those 10 secs is when the fire
starts.
I was wondering if anyone had successfully
installed an inertial real belt-on-each-shoulder style system in the
IV-P.
What are the issues with attach points
etc.?
B.A.S. (above) charges about $500/seat for their
certified products. Sounds like Schroth is a little cheaper and J.C.
Whitney way cheap.
